Summer in Charleston has myriad things to see and do—you’ll never run out of new experiences. Events, festivals, and of course—days at the beach await!

Spoleto Festival

When: May 26-June 11, 2023

Where: Various locations

Spoleto Festival USA is one of America’s major performing arts festivals. It was founded in 1977 by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Gian Carlo Menotti, who sought to establish a counterpart to the Festival Dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy. The 17-day event transforms Charleston into an exhilarating celebration of performing, literary and visual arts.

Salute From the Shore

When: July 4, 2023

Where: Along the shore from Myrtle Beach to Bluffton.

This year’s Salute From the Shore will begin 40 miles north of Myrtle Beach, at approximately 1 pm and will make its way down the coastline, where it’ll end in Bluffton. The flyover will begin with two F-16s from Shaw Air Force Base and a C-17 from Charleston Air Force Base. Civilian-owned and flown vintage aircraft will follow the military planes.

First Friday Art Walks

Artwalk

When: First Friday of the month except July and January

Where: Downtown Charleston

Immerse yourself in local art at more than 30 galleries during the Charleston Gallery Association’s Artwalk. Taking place on the first Friday of most months, the Artwalk is a fantastic way to meet new people, discover local artists, and find the perfect art piece for your home. Participants have the ability to create their own Artwalk route using the CGA website’s “Charleston Gallery Association Map.” There is no cost of admission to this event.

Charleston Farmers Market

When: Saturdays, April 8-November 25, 2023

Where: Marion Square-329 Meeting Street

You will find a variety of local produce, plants, herbs, and cut flowers, as well as breakfast and lunch vendors, live entertainment, and an assortment of juried arts and crafts from local artisans every Saturday at the Market.

2nd Sunday on King Street

2nd Sunday On King Street

When: Every month on the second Sunday from 12-5 pm

Where: King Street from Queen to Calhoun Street

Enjoy exploring Kings Street without traffic! You will find carefully curated artists showing their work on the street, unique food vendors, and other surprises! Enjoy discovering shops you might not have noticed before!

Where: 21 E Battery

Looking for the perfect Charleston evening? If so, look no further than Wine on the Piazza at the Edmondston Alston House! Those taking part will get to enjoy a glass of wine, spectacular views of the Charleston harbor, and a self-guided tour of this historic Charleston home. Tickets for this relaxing evening start at $30 per person.

Charleston Caribbean Jerk Festival

When: Saturday, July 15, 2023

Where: Riverfront Park in North Charleston

Eat, drink, and celebrate Caribbean culture at the 8th Annual Charleston Caribbean Jerk Festival! This one-day festival highlights the best in both Caribbean food and music. Festival goers will get to enjoy Caribbean vendors from across the Southeast as the top chefs look to claim the title of Top Jerk Chef 2023! Tickets for this event start at $20 for general admission.

Get the family together, head on over to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, and enjoy Charleston’s very own Minor League Baseball team! Chris Stapleton Concert

When: Thursday, July 13, 2023

Where: Credit One Stadium

19th Annual Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival

When: Jul 22, 2023

Where: Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park - 99 Harry M. Hallman Jr Blvd

Celebrate the Gullah Geechee people’s culture, history, and traditions at the 18th Annual Sweetgrass Festival! Festival goers will get to enjoy live entertainment, activities, and the Sweetgrass Basket u0026amp; Craft Show! Admission to this event is free.
